A YouTube to MP3 link needs to identify a specific video. A channel page, search result, or playlist is a different kind of address. Wavely validates the input before starting a job, so checking the link is the first useful step when the form rejects it.
Begin with a video you are authorized to download, open that individual video, and copy its own address or Share link. Do not copy the browser address while you are still on a search-results page.
Recognize the main shapes
An ordinary watch link uses youtube.com/watch with a video identifier in its v parameter. A short share link uses youtu.be followed by the identifier. You may also encounter Shorts, embed, or live-path addresses identifying an individual video.
Wavely normalizes supported individual-video URL shapes. Accepting a URL’s shape does not guarantee that the source is available or supported for conversion. In particular, a live-path link and an actively live recording are not the same question: the backend still checks the media.
Watch out for playlist context
A link can identify a video while also carrying a playlist parameter. When a supported watch URL includes a valid video identifier and playlist context, Wavely keeps the individual video and discards that context. A playlist-only URL has no individual video to convert. Copy the intended video’s own link to make your selection clear.
This behavior prevents an ambiguous paste from starting something different from what you expected. The current interface is designed around one video per conversion, not an entire channel or a queue of playlist items.
Fix copy-and-paste mistakes
- Remove surrounding prose if you copied a whole message instead of its link.
- Confirm that the pasted address belongs to the supported YouTube host.
- Check that you copied the complete address, not a visibly shortened label.
- Open the individual video and copy its link again if the identifier is missing.
- Try manual paste if the clipboard button is unavailable.
Changing the bitrate will not repair a malformed link. Likewise, repeatedly submitting the same rejected address will not make it point to a video. Correct the input before investigating audio settings.
Separate link validity from source availability
A well-formed link can still refer to a deleted, private, restricted, or otherwise inaccessible source. If Wavely accepts the input but the job later fails, read the processing error and check the source itself.
For your own uploaded material, YouTube provides an account-based download route. That is a useful alternative when you need your own source file rather than trying to make an unavailable link work through repeated submissions.
Do not use timestamps as an editing control
A link copied at a playback time is still a link to the video. Wavely does not offer start-and-end trimming controls in its current interface. Do not assume that pasting a timestamped link will create only the selected segment.
If you need an excerpt from your own recording, use a workflow that explicitly supports trimming and verify the exported boundaries. For a normal full-video audio copy, check the finished duration so you know exactly what the download contains.
